During an appearance on Soccer AM today (Saturday, April 25th), West Ham ace Declan Rice raved about teammate Jack Wilshere, suggesting that the midfielder is ‘ridiculous’ in training.

Wilshere, 28, joined the Hammers in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer.

But things haven’t worked out for the former Arsenal man at the London Stadium.

Injuries have plagued the Englishman’s time at West Ham.

He hasn’t played for the Hammers since October 2019.

A return to action on the horizon?

Wilshere has made just 16 appearances for West Ham over the past 21 months – a quite shocking statistic.

The 28-year-old is back to full fitness now, however, according to the Daily Mail, and could be available for selection when Premier League action resumes.

And Rice highlighted how the midfielder’s return to full fitness is a massive boost for the Hammers, when speaking during an appearance on Soccer AM this morning:

“One player I want to see back playing is Wilshere. I think he’ll make a difference. The guy is ridiculous in training, the quality he’s got, I just want to see him play injury-free again. I know that’s what he wants and he’ll make such a difference to our side, as well as everyone else.”

David Moyes will be hoping that Wilshere does return in great shape both physically and mentally.

But it is a huge ask.

The 28-year-old has played so little football over the past few years that he might just find it difficult to return to his best. Especially considering the frenetic pace of the Premier League.

But you never know. He might have a key role to play for West Ham between now and the end of the season.

Rice certainly thinks his teammate could be vital during the nine-game run-in.
