Felipe Anderson and Declan Rice won’t be too far away when the Hammer of the Year award is handed out by West Ham United fans this season.

But Robert Snodrgass will be there or thereabouts too if Anderson and Rice had their way.

The influential pair were in agreement when it comes to who they see as the most important player in West Ham’s recent turnaround.

The Hammers have won three games in a row for the first time since 2016.

And Manuel Pellegrini’s side have scored three goals in each of those for the first time since 1982.

Duo single out Snoddy for special praise

Rice and Anderson have been key players in that run.

But the pair made it clear their admiration for what reborn Snodgrass is doing for the Hammers this season.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Anderson interrupted questions about his wonder strike to single out Snodgrass for special praise following a nine-point week in which the Scot provided 3 assists and delivered his first Premier League goal for the East Londoners.

‘He worked for the team’

“Snoddy scored a great goal and worked for the team as well and that was important,” Anderson told whufc.com.

“I also try to help the team scoring a goal or not, but of course, to score is even more important even if what really matters is to get the points.”

Rice agreed with his teammate in his own post match interview where he too singled out Snodgrass.

“Snods has been excellent this year,” Rice told whufc.com.

“Ever since he’s come back to the side he’s provided assists, he’s provided goals and he’s come up with a top goal on Saturday.”

Pellegrini impressed by reborn fans’ favourite

Pellegrini recently revealed that Snodgrass impressed him in pre-season and trimmed down in a bid to make things work.

Snodgrass has become one of West Ham’s most important and best loved players. It is in stark contrast to last season where he was shipped out on loan to Championship Aston Villa.
The midfielder is fast becoming a Hammers cult hero but it appears he’s halfway to nailing the player’s player award this season at least.
