David Moyes spoke to reporters yesterday and shared what he and he staff said about the West Ham fans during the win over Newcastle.

The Hammers were quite simply brilliant at St James’ Park yesterday, especially during the second half.

We trailed twice, but levelled both times before going on to win the game 4-2.

The West Ham players put in a top class team performance.

Having 3,000 Hammers fans screaming from the rafters would have played a huge role in the way in which the team just kept going.

Having fans back inside stadiums really is brilliant to see. Give the Newcastle fans their due, they were great yesterday as well.

Moyes reserved his praise for the West Ham faithful, however, when speaking to Football.London yesterday afternoon:

“It was great we could give West Ham supporters something to shout about and hopefully they are beginning to see something different and I have got to say I saw something different from them as well. The support today was terrific I think they realised how well the team was playing and they backed the players all the way and were right behind the team. I was looking and thinking to myself ‘wow, this is real’ and we stood in the dugout and said ‘this is what we have been missing and this is a fantastically supported football club and an incredible fanbase and they did not let their team down today.”

Considering the size of our squad, the West Ham players really need the fans to get behind them this season.

Let’s support the team…not the regime.

The boys deserved every bit of support they got yesterday. Each and every player ran themselves into the ground. It makes such a refreshing change to be so proud of the current team, considering what has happened over the past few years at the London Stadium.
