David Moyes says he has noticed significant fan shift at West Ham and makes an encouragingly bold statement.

Performances may still be miles off what they once were under the Scot but West Ham have stopped the rot this week with a draw at Leeds and a win in the FA Cup at Brentford.

There was nothing vintage about either display from the Hammers.

But any point away from home in the Premier League is good for a club like West Ham – and it always has been.

And being in the hat for the next round is all that matters in cup competitions, which West Ham achieved with their 1-0 win at Brentford on Saturday evening.

There have been few positives for the Hammers during a six-game winless run over the last couple of months.

The manager’s job has come under intense scrutiny and some fans have felt it is time for change, believing Moyes has taken the team as far as he can.

So the Hammers boss is understandably keen to accentuate the positives at the moment.

A clean sheet, a win, a place in the next round and going unbeaten for a couple of games are all certainly positives.

And Moyes says he has noticed a significant fan shift at West Ham and makes an encouragingly bold statement.

The Scot felt his side had played better in the league match they lost against Brentford just over a week ago.

But he feels that the good times are slowly on their way back and believes West Ham fans can see it too.

“I’m dizzy that I want to get back to the heights of last year and I want to do it quickly and I want to get back to a playing at a (certain) level and we’re off that level at the moment,” Moyes told West Ham’s official website.

“So what you’ve got to do, you’ve got to go back to the period where we had to try and win the games and grind them out, be hard to beat and we did a bit of that today…

“I’ve got to say I thought the supporters were great. Because when the team’s not doing so well sometimes it can be a bit (negative at a football club).

“But I sense the supporters are feeling that ‘look there’s something going on here, it’s maybe not quite as good as we’d like at the moment but it’ll not be too long until we’re back in good order’.”

Let’s hope the boss is right. With Wolves and Everton up next the pressure is sure to intensify and there has never been a better time to launch a resurgence.
