Said Benrahma has to start for West Ham away at Manchester United this afternoon, if we are to have any chance of winning the game.

The Hammers head to Old Trafford this afternoon for a huge game against Manchester United.

David Moyes has worked wonders since returning to the London Stadium back in December 2019, but his away record at the big six is appalling.

In 19 games away from home against the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea since Moyes’s return, West Ham have taken just two points!

In addition to that, Moyes has never won away at Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool in 69 attempts throughout his managerial career to date (Telegraph).

That has got to change, and fast. A good way to start would be a win away at Old Trafford this afternoon. In order to get the three points though, Moyes can’t afford to set his team up in a defensive manner.

If we sit back and try and soak up the pressure, we will get beaten, there are no two ways about that. Let’s go for them! Why not? They’re not great defensively, and if West Ham go for the jugular, we could well win the match.

Gianluca Scamacca will undoubtedly start through the middle on his own against Man United, just like he did away at Liverpool recently.

The Italian was left isolated at Anfield, and didn’t have much support throughout the match.

In order to prevent a repeat of that, Said Benrahma needs to play.

The 27-year-old was excellent against Bournemouth on Monday night, and always tries to make something positive happen.

He is one of the few players we have who are comfortable in possession and can help us get up the pitch. We will need that this afternoon.

If Jarrod Bowen is fit, Moyes should play him and Benrahma either side of Scamacca. They need to operate nice and close to the Italian. The onus will then obviously be on the full-backs to create the width.

Listen, if we set up to go for Manchester United and play a brand of attacking and expansive football, we could well lose the match 3-0. The thing is, we could win the game as well.

Setting up too defensively almost guarantees that we will lose in my opinion. David Moyes has to change the way he sets up against the big teams away from home and really go for it today.

The West Ham manager starting Said Benrahma against Manchester United at Old Trafford will help us get the three points in my opinion.
