There’s no need to beat around the bush. Ryan Fredericks was absolutely atrocious for West Ham against Burnley last night. And David Moyes must now consider selling the right-back.

The 27-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2018 on the back of a fine Championship campaign with Fulham.

Fredericks racked up nine assists in 44 games for the Cottagers during the 2017/18 campaign (Transfermarkt).

Many West Ham fans were excited at the prospect of the pacy 27-year-old bombing up and down the right hand flank at the London Stadium.

But he has proven this season that he is quite simply not a Premier League player. Fredericks has racked up just three assists in 43 games for the east London outfit (Transfermarkt).

The full-back has one redeeming feature, and that is his blistering pace. But he doesn’t even use that to his advantage.

Fredericks has a terrible first touch, has a woeful sense of positioning, he can’t tackle and is consistently exposed when attacking players run at him.

And last night’s display should be the final straw.

Fredericks should not play again for West Ham this season. Ben Johnson needs to be given a chance for the final four games or the Hammers risk getting ripped apart down the right hand side time and time again.

Some West Ham fans were fuming with the former Fulham man’s display last night…

As harsh as it sounds, Fredericks isn’t good enough for West Ham or the Premier League.

Moyes must sign a top class right-back this summer, if the Hammers are to push on and improve over the next few years.

And unfortunately for Fredericks, he should definitely be one of the first names on the London Stadium exit list at the end of this season.
