According to a report from Fotospor, Malang Sarr is tempted by a move to Newcastle, in what could be a big blow for West Ham.
FC Inter News claimed last month that the Magpies and the Hammers both want to sign the 21-year-old free agent this summer.
David Moyes will undoubtedly want to bring a top class central defender to the London Stadium this summer.
And the same can be said of Steve Bruce at St James’ Park.
It seems as though Malang Sarr is on the radar of both Newcastle and West Ham. And according to Fotospor, the former Nice ace is tempted by a switch to the Toon.
So the Hammers could have their work cut-out.
The Frenchman has made 19 Ligue 1 appearances for Nice this season. During those outings, the centre-back has averaged one tackle, 1.9 interceptions and 1.4 clearances. He has won an average of 0.7 aerial duals per game during those matches (Who Scored). So he clearly needs to work on becoming slightly more dominant in the air.
Sarr is a player with great potential, however. And his availability on a free transfer means that Newcastle or West Ham could secure themselves a real bargain this summer.
The young Frenchman is a real athlete. And he possesses all of the basic ingredients needed to go on and become a truly elite centre-back.
If he is tempted to join the Magpies, however, as Fotospor claim, West Ham could be fighting a losing battle.
And if West Ham miss out on Sarr, it would be a real shame for the east London outfit.
