David Gold has lifted the lid on Daniel Kretinsky and made a hugely exciting claim about West Ham’s future the Czech billionaire on board.

Last month marked the one-year anniversary since Kretinsky became West Ham’s second biggest stakeholder.

The “Czech Sphinx” paid a reported £150m for 27 per cent of West Ham last November and it was predicted his arrival would allow the Hammers to go bigger and better than before in the transfer market.

That certainly proved to be the case during an unprecedented summer which saw West Ham spend £170m on signings.

Kretinsky has repeatedly been linked with an eventual full takeover of West Ham (The Evening Standard). And there has been speculation for years that David Sullivan and Gold would may their stakes in the Hammers in 2023.

There has been claim and counter claim on that front for some time now. And the focus around it will no doubt increase between now and the summer.

Kretinsky has been described as ‘secretive’ by several business outlets who follow his investments.

And he is certainly not someone who seeks the limelight with West Ham fans having barely heard from him since he penned an open letter to them after joining the club.

That has led to uncertainty over his plans and ambitions for the Hammers.

But now one of his fellow co-owners has delivered a timely Christmas present to the club’s supporters.

David Gold has lifted the lid on Daniel Kretinsky and made a hugely exciting claim about West Ham’s future with the Czech billionaire on board.

Speaking in a newly added chapter of his autobiography, Gold revealed what Kretinsky is like and it will give supporters great hope of a bright future.

“There were also big changes in the boardroom this year as we felt the time was right to bring in a new investor in Daniel Kretínsky,” Gold says in his autobiography.

“From my point of view the decision to bring in Daniel was with a look to the future. We felt the time was right to introduce some younger blood onto the Board. I have been hugely impressed with Daniel in all of my dealings with him.

“He is not only an extremely successful and driven businessman but he is also a true football fan, with a longstanding connection to Sparta Prague. Ultimately, Daniel, David Sullivan and myself all want the same thing, to build on the success we’ve had as a club over the last two years, and I believe that with the three of us now working together, we are in a better position to do that.

“The resources that he has at his disposal will no doubt be of benefit to the club but more than that I think we have a highly intelligent and ambitious new director. Times certainly are changing and I am excited as to where the next stage of the adventure will lead us.”
