Darren Bent has suggested that Newcastle ace Jonjo Shelvey would be a brilliant signing for West Ham this summer, when speaking to Football Insider.

The Hammers are interested in signing the Magpies ace this summer, according to Football Insider.
David Moyes will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
And Shelvey could be the ideal addition for West Ham. Although Steve Bruce will surely want to keep the 28-year-old at St James’ Park.
Shelvey has scored five goals in 17 games for Newcastle this season (Who Scored). And he has transformed himself into one of Bruce’s key players at St James’ Park.
The Chronicle suggested recently that Newcastle could be tempted to cash in on the midfielder for around £20 million, however.
And that would surely represent decent value for the Hammers.
Toon midfielder tipped for Hammers switch
Darren Bent – someone who knows what it takes to succeed in the Premier League, backed the idea of Shelvey joining West Ham from Newcastle this summer, when speaking exclusively to Football Insider:
“We all know already he’s got all the attributes and all the ability. He’s someone who’s got a bit of bite about him but he’s also got the quality on the ball and he can run around. If you’re talking about someone like him and Declan Rice in the middle of the park, that’s not a bad combination, I quite like the sound of that.”
Shelvey was born and raised in Harold Hill, and he was a West Ham fan as a boy. So a move to east London from Tyneside does seem to make sense.
It just remains to be seen whether the Hammers will be prepared to pay somewhere in the region of £20 million in order to acquire the Newcastle ace’s signature.
