Behind the scenes video has proved David Martin truly is Mr West Ham United and fans are loving it.

West Ham’s media team publish excellent footage taking supporters behind the scenes before, during and after a victory.

They have been all too rare an occurrence this season. But this week fans got an insight behind the scenes of the superb 3-1 victory over Southampton.

There was a lot to love in the video.

But one player stuck out from all the rest, and he’s likely to never play for the club again.

David Martin, the making of a Hammers cult hero

David Martin, son of Hammers legend Alvin, secured his place in West Ham folklore earlier this season when he replaced the hapless Roberto and put in a man of the match display to help his boyhood club win 1-0 away at rivals Chelsea.

West Ham fans will never forget the scenes after that game as Martin embraced his dad, who had been commentating on the game for talkSPORT.

You never say never in football. But with Lukasz Fabianski back fit and Darren Randolph signed it is highly unlikely Martin will be seen in a competitive game again.

Never to be seen again star shows he truly is Mr West Ham

But that does not stop him from being a hugely positive influence in the dressing room if footage is anything to go by.

And David Moyes needs as many of those characters around the team as possible right now.

Martin greeted every single West Ham player as they left the field after the win over the Saints.

Beaming from ear to ear, he looked to be living every West Ham fan’s dream.

All the victorious Hammers were given a warm welcome and congratulated on their performance by the ‘keeper.

For West Ham it is like having another Mark Noble around.

And Martin’s selfless positive energy went down well with everyone as teammate Declan Rice lead the tributes, saying: ‘David Martin what a guy’ on Twitter.
