Arrogant David Moyes deserves all the stick that he gets after his nonchalant reaction to West Ham’s early season defeats.
The Hammers are in a whole world of trouble at the moment, and are sitting outside the relegation zone purely because of a superior goal difference to those below us.
All of this comes after a summer transfer window that saw David Moyes spend a whopping £170 million – it really is unacceptable.
Slowly, but surely, the Hammers have been sleepwalking to an absolute disastrous campaign this season.
However, it appears as though the Scot is blind to the deep rot that has set in at the club…
Arrogant David Moyes deserves all the stick
Because of Moyes’s big summer spend, he continually beat the drum at the start of the new season that all eight new signings needed time to gel together.
Let’s not forget, the fact that he had to sign so many players is all on him. The Scot should have added one or two more players to his ranks both in the summer of 2021 and January 2022.
Had he done that, only four or five players would have needed to be signed in the summer of 2022. We are where we are though.
What I find truly acceptable was Moyes’s arrogant, nonchalant approach to our early season defeats and shocking form.
He clearly didn’t believe in a month of Sundays that his team would be so close to the bottom of the table after 18 Premier League games.
Moyes rested on his laurels and got complacent, and that attitude has clearly filtered down to the West Ham players.
Every time we lost a game during the first six weeks of the campaign, Moyes continually spouted the nonsense that everything will click soon. ‘We’re not far off it’, he continued to declare.
Well, the truth of the matter is that the Hammers haven’t been anywhere near it all season long. The players he signed have failed to impress, mostly due to his poor management of them in my opinion.
And the players who have performed so well for West Ham for the past two years have regressed badly. The team looked unfit and well off the pace during pre-season. Our fall from grace is something that a lot of people saw coming. Unfortunately for us, one of those people wasn’t our manager.
He has blindly continued doing the things that have failed with complete and utter tunnel vision for far too long now.
If things don’t change fast, we will get relegated, I have no doubts about that.
And for that reason, arrogant David Moyes deserves all the stick that he’s getting at the moment.
