West Ham United were one of the biggest spenders in the transfer window but they also got two of the best bargains too.
That’s according to Sky Sports pundits Alan Smith and Ryan Mason.
Manuel Pellegrini was backed with unprecedented spending of around £100 million, bringing in 10 signings – nine of them for the first team squad.
Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Ryan Fredericks have bolstered the defence.

Strength in depth
Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez come into midfield while Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Lucas Perez have added much needed attacking quality.
The Hammers are widely regarded to have done some of the best business this summer despite a number of clubs really pushing the boat out bringing in stars from across Europe.
But Sky Sports pundits Ryan Mason and Alan Smith say West Ham snared the two biggest bargains of the window in Ryan Fredericks – a free transfer from Fulham – and £4 million striker Lucas Perez from Arsenal.

‘He didn’t get a chance’
“I’m going to Lucas Perez for West Ham (as bargain of the summer),” Former Gunners star Smith told Sky Sports News.
“He looked decent at times for Arsenal, didn’t really get a chance, he’s got a bit of aggression about him, he should suit the Premier League.
“I think he might do well.”

‘Massive potential’
Mason also felt West Ham had made the bargain signing of the summer by picking out Fredericks, player he played with at youth level for Spurs.
“Ryan Fredericks for West Ham, massive, massive potential, free transfer as well.”
