Jordan Hugill hasn’t played for West Ham since March 2018.
Report: Young star’s West Ham exit is imminent
The 28-year-old striker joined the Hammers from Preston way back in January 2018 for around £8m (Evening Standard).
He was brought to the London Stadium by current West Ham boss David Moyes, during the Scot’s first reign in charge of the club.
He failed to establish himself at the London Stadium, however. In truth, he wasn’t really given a fair enough chance to prove himself. Hugill played just three games for West Ham, and he failed to score a single goal for the club.
The former Preston striker spent two loans spells away from the London Stadium at Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers respectively.
He is now being linked with permanent moves to Norwich (Sky Sports Transfer Guru Kaveh Solhekol) and QPR (Evening Standard).
But as things stand, Hugill is actually training back with West Ham. The rarely seen Hammers hitman posted the below picture to his official Twitter account yesterday:
So as much as there has been talk of Hugill leaving West Ham, it seems as though he is very committed to staying at at the London Stadium at the moment.
Perhaps the 28-year-old does deserve a chance to prove himself in east London. He surely can’t be any worse than Albian Ajeti was.
With the Hammers in such desperate need of funds, however, it will be no surprise to see the former Preston man moved on this summer. And if selling Hugill helps David Moyes bring in some of his top targets, then it really is a no-brainer for the West Ham boss.
