Vladimir Coufal was incredibly poor for West Ham United against Silkeborg in the UEFA Europa Conference League last night.
The 30-year-old is an absolute shadow of the player who joined the Hammers for around £5 million two years ago (The Guardian).

Now, the groin injury that he sustained this time last year certainly hasn’t helped him, but it has to be said, Coufal just doesn’t look like the same player anymore.

And his performance for the Hammers last night showed us that a new right-back should be at the very top of David Moyes’s wish-list in January and next summer…
Vladimir Coufal was shocking for West Ham against Silkeborg
The Czech Republic international was incredibly poor for the Hammers last night.
Coufal has completely lost his pace, his tackling and man-marking ability and he just isn’t very good in the final third any more either.
The real worry for West Ham and David Moyes is that maybe Vlad was just a one-season wonder.
It’s incredibly hard to actually type these words out. Coufal is obviously a really lovely bloke and he gives nothing less than 100% every single game.

The Czech Republic international’s work ethic is something that all young players can aspire to as well.
However, the harsh truth of the matter is that there is no room for sentiment at elite level sport and we believe that Coufal just isn’t good enough to be playing at the very highest level anymore.
His performance for West Ham against Silkeborg last night was symptomatic of his recent demise.
The 30-year-old has been poor defensively and totally ineffectual going forward for quite some time now.
The problem that Moyes has is that Ben Johnson is currently out injured, so he doesn’t have many options, unless he throws Harrison Ashby into action.
Hopefully I’m wrong and Coufal manages to redeliver his best form for West Ham. I just can’t see it happening though.
