West Ham fans were forced to endure an absolutely shocking January transfer window but our failure to sign anyone could be a blessing in disguise for Thierry Nevers.

David Moyes failed to bring anybody into London Stadium in the January window.

The Hammers tried frantically on deadline day to get things done (supposedly) but it was to no avail.

West Ham began this month with the same squad that we had at the start of January. The Hammers fans were fuming with the lack of investment.

We have a genuine chance of making some real progress this season and could feasibly finish inside the top four. Our chances of doing that took a huge hit with no new arrivals last month, however.

Everyone involved with the Hammers will be feeling pretty flat at the moment. One person in particular may be viewing the situation as a real opportunity for him though…

West Ham youngster could shine after shocking January window

Thierry Nevers joined the Hammers on a free from Reading in the summer of 2021.

And he has made a huge impression already at the London Stadium. Nevers has bagged five goals and one assist in 10 games for the under-23s so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The 19-year-old was recently been described as an ‘incredible’ young talent by The Athletic.

He can play anywhere along the front-line and possesses exceptional technique and ability on the ball. Here’s a glimpse of what he is capable of:

Nevers clearly has something very special about him. And whilst he might not be ready to play regularly in the Premier League just yet, he may be given the odd chance to impress here and there between now and the end of the season.

The 19-year-old looks like he has all of the ingredients needed to succeed at the very highest level.

Had Moyes brought a couple of new signings to West Ham in January, Nevers would have had to bide his time for at least another year.

He may well find that he is handed his chance a lot sooner now though. And if Moyes does trust him, Nevers could very well be a huge winner from our absolutely disastrous January transfer window.
