According to a report from Claret and Hugh, Angelo Ogbonna could be set to see out his career at West Ham.
The 31-year-old joined the Hammers from Juventus in the summer of 2015 for around £10 million (BBC).
The Italian is a popular figure in east London. And he has been an absolute rock for West Ham this season.
Despite being on the bench for four of the Hammers’ first 12 games this season, Ogbonna has been one of the club’s best players.
In fact, he is a leading contender for the Hammer of the Year award.
In 24 Premier League outings for West Ham this season, the 31-year-old has averaged 1.3 tackles. 0.9 interceptions, 4.4 clearances and 0.9 blocks per game. He has also won an average of 3.1 aerial duals per game (Who Scored).
The Italian has been a true inspiration for the Hammers. And is one of the few players who can hold his head up high so far this season.
Ogbonna’s current contract with West Ham runs until the summer of 2022 (Transfermarkt).
The former Juve ace will be 34 by that time. And Claret and Hugh claims that the Hammers have an option to extend Ogbonna’s current deal by a further one or two years.
So it would be no surprise at all to see the 31-year-old end his career at the London Stadium.
