Clinton Morrison has mocked Chelsea star Reece James for acting the big man with West Ham striker Michail Antonio.

There was plenty of controversy surrounding West Ham’s ridiculous 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

Referee Andy Madley and VAR official Jarred Gillet combined for what is being dubbed the worst decision since the introduction of the technology.

Madley saw nothing wrong with Maxwel Cornet’s last gasp equaliser for West Ham at Stamford Bridge.

But Gillet sent Madley to the pitchside monitor and he overturned his original decision to inexplicably rule that Jarrod Bowen had fouled hapless Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

It was not the only controversial incident in the game, though.

Chelsea star James could clearly be seen kicking out at Antonio in the hip with his studs.

By the letter of the law it was a red card offence. But James was only booked, as was Antonio who reacted angrily and remonstrated with James.

The Chelsea man then took leave of his senses by going toe to toe with West Ham’s powerhouse forward, shoving him and squaring up to the Hammer.

But he picked the ‘wrong guy’ according to a former Premier League striker who knows both the West Ham and Chelsea players.

Clinton Morrison mocked Chelsea star James for acting the big man with West Ham striker Antonio.

“The thing that goes on after (the kick out) is the funny thing,” Morrison said on Sky Sports News on Sunday at 12.28pm.

“Because I think he’s (James) messing with the wrong guy if he wants to go toe to toe with Michail Antonio!

“I like both players, I know both players as well. But I’m thinking don’t go toe to toe with Michail Antonio, no way.”

Morrison was joined on Sky Sports by fellow ex Prem player Jamie O’Hara.

And he pointed out that Antonio made James look silly soon after.

“I see the incident and after that them two went at it for about five minutes and Antonio scored and Reece James made a mistake,” O’Hara said.

The punditry duo said it was a toss up whether James should have been sent off for the kick out.

But both labelled the decision to rule out West Ham’s equaliser as a ‘complete and utter disgrace’.

James has previous with West Ham. He was caught on camera shouting to try and put Manuel Lanzini off his penalty when West Ham faced Chelsea at the London Stadium back in December (The Sun).

Lanzini smashed the penalty home and mocked James as he celebrated in a 3-2 win for the Hammers.

James is undoubtedly a fantastic player but is fast turning into one of the most loathsome characters in the division.
