West Ham United star Sebastien Haller has been named the Premier League player of the week by an influential football data site.

West Ham’s record £45million signing started life in England with a bang this season with three goals in his first three matches for the Hammers.

But he has struggled since in a lone striker role as West Ham have tumbled down the league into a relegation battle.

Haller transformed in partnership

Haller – as West Ham fans have been saying all season – looked a different player as part of a partnership with Michail Antonio last time out.

He scored in a 3-1 win over Southampton to take his tally to seven for the season.

And Haller was excellent in everything he did for West Ham against the Saints. The Frenchman also would have had the assist of the season after a 30 yard lofted Rabona through ball for Antonio who failed to find the finish to match.

Hammers star named player of the week

Haller’s performance has been hailed by West Ham fans as proof that he should have been playing in a two all season.

But it also caught the eye of Whoscored.com – the largest detailed football statistics website which is powered by Opta data.

They named Haller their Premier League player of the week giving him a near perfect score of 9.68/10.

Near perfect score as West Ham man beats off stiff competition

According to Whoscored.com, Hammers star Haller had three shots, won 14 aerial battles, went on four successful dribbles and made two key passes.

It meant the West Ham forward beat Watford’s Ismalia Sarr, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and Wolves’s Diego Jota to the honour despite all three notching braces at the weekend.

Haller also beat West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen who scored on his full debut and registered a score of 8.53 to take a place in the top five players of the week.
