West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini was critical of fans for leaving early during the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth blaming a ‘lack of trust’.

After two torrid seasons at their new London Stadium home, many West Ham fans are scarred.

Congestion getting out of the ground is just one of many bones of contention for supporters.

Performances on the pitch haven’t helped either.

Pellegrini surprise suggests he hasn’t done his homework

Pellegrini seemed taken aback by what he witnessed in the surrender to the Cherries (BBC Sport)

Not only from his players but the stands too.

It comes from a general malaise at the East London club and a feeling among fans of ‘new season, new era, same old West Ham’.

The Chilean found it strange that the stands started emptying with his side chasing an equaliser.

But perhaps Pellegrini has underestimated the challenge he has signed up to.

A new statistic about West Ham’s dismal London Stadium record will make for grim reading.

Grounds for concern

And it will leave the former Manchester City boss in no doubt where his priorities are, to improve their record at the new ground.

That’s because the defeat to Bournemouth means West Ham have now lost more Premier League games at the London Stadium than they have won.

Of the 39 home games played at Stratford since the move from Upton Park in 2016, the Hammers have won just 14.

They have now lost 15 and drawn 10.

There have been plenty of goals, over 100 in fact.

But unfortunately for West Ham 59 of them have been in their net with 44 scored by the Irons.
