Does Toni Martinez have any chance of making it at West Ham?

Remember Toni Martinez?

The young striker was tipped for great things by West Ham fans but his career seems to be stagnating now.

Many West Ham fans thought that he would be a first-team star by now.

But with his first-team chances fading, we look at whether the youngster has a future at West Ham.

Biggest STAR Your Club Are Trying To SIGN This Month

Martinez joined West Ham from Valencia, having scored over 100 goals at youth level for the Spanish side.

The talented striker immediately made an impact at youth level and was prolific for the young Hammers.

He then went on loan to Oxford United, where he scored a handful of goals.

But the Spanish striker failed to live up to his reputation when he made his first-team bow.

Martinez played three cup games for West Ham and never really impressed.

He was sent out again last January, spending a period on loan at Real Valladolid.

After winning promotion with the Spanish side, Martinez returned to West Ham eager to impress new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

However, another loan move would follow.

Raya Majadahonda

West Ham decided to let Martinez join Segunda Division newcomers Raya Majadahonda on a season long loan.

The 21-year-old scored on his debut against Zaragoza, showing an early sign that he may turn things around.

But he has failed to score since and is not a regular starter for the Spanish second tier side.

Future?

It seems that this loan move could be Martinez’s last chance to impress.

He needs to get himself back into the first-team and start scoring goals for Raya Majadahonda.

At the moment, he is drifting further and further away from the first-team at West Ham and quickly becoming a forgotten star.
