Does Pellegrini’s transfer activity mean West Ham will flourish at the business end?

Manuel Pellegrini’s summer transfer business has been plentiful, and promises much ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The Chilean has brought in Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson, Fabian Balbuena and Xande Silva, and is reportedly close to signing Lucas Perez and Carlos Sanchez before the window closes at 5pm on Thursday.

Such activity has got West Ham fans buzzing to see what happens in the new season. Of course there is the fear that it might take a bit of time for the new players to bed in, but Pellegrini has built a seriously solid squad.

At the moment the Hammers have a squad depth of 31 players (with Manuel Lanzini out for the forseeable), and there are at least two players per position, with many able to operate in multiple different roles.

Pellegrini hasn’t just signed numbers; he now has an array of good quality players who can come in and do a job if required, and it could certainly help towards the business end of the season.

Obviously the second half of the season is where regular first team players start getting fatigued, but it might no affect West Ham as badly this season given the quality of players.

Players such as Winston Reid, Michail Antonio, Arthur Masuaku, Javier Hernandez, Pedro Obiang, Pablo Zabaleta, and Sanchez and Perez if they both come in as expected can all have a solid impact for Pellegrini as the season wears on.
