West ham united have been lingering around mid table since the start of the season, showing that they are a class act in comparison to reading and Southampton who we where promoted alongside and who have also been leaking goals.
Everyone at Upton park accepted that this was going to be a difficult season. Sam allardyce continued his reign after the initial stick he endured at the start of last season. However, although he has implemented his philosophy on our beloved west ham, he has also crafted our side into battlers and we have witnessed our side play some beautiful football. The stats reveal that there are ten teams that play more long balls the west ham, Newcastle being number one. So surely the claim that Sam Allardyce is a “long ball merchant” are false, and are just stereotypical view of the way his extremely successful Bolton side used to play?
With the likes of Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle all stuttering this season, and the likes of West Brom and Swansea surprising a few pundits with their lofty position, a top 6 position is well up for grabs. Could West Ham sneak in there?
Nolan of course has scored the most goals for West Ham this season, which means Allardyce needs a striker that can put the ball in the back of the net.With Nicholas Anelka almost being a done deal, Anelka seems just the man we have been looking for; a proven striker that can score goals and do it regularly. Magia , with his pace and deadly finishing, could be a revelation if he was allowed to play as a striker regularly, he has proven time and time again that he has what it takes, yet we haven’t given him that chance.
The January transfer window could be a huge one for West Ham’s hopes this season as we have been hit by the dreaded injury crisis.
The majority of fans are starting to see Allardyce’s brand of football is bearing fruit at Upton park. That belief and confidence is running through the players And many fans are calling for the board to reward Allardyce’s efforts with a new contract.
No-one at West ham is getting ahead of themselves. They know there is plenty of work left to do, but with teams around them failing to find any sort of consistency they also know that a good run of games could see them back in contention for a top 6 place.
