West Ham currently sit nicely placed in 10th, but the question is, can we hold onto it? With only two games remaining this season, we are in pole position to finish in the top half of the table.
Our two games left are Everton (A) and Reading (H). We have 43 point at the moment and looking at them two fixtures I would expect us to add three points to our tally so far. Everton are a team we never get much luck against so I would expect a loss at Goodison Park but I expect West Ham to win at home to Reading.
Our closest challengers for a top ten finish are Stoke City who have 41 points. Their two remaining fixtures are, Tottenham (H) and Southampton (A). Stoke are currently two points behind us but I can’t see them getting anything against Tottenham which just leaves Southampton (A). I can see them getting a point there but I don’t think they will overtake us.
You then have Fulham and Aston Villa who are both on 40 points. Fulham have to play Liverpool (H) and Swansea (A). I can only see them getting one point from their last two games. Aston Villa have to play Chelsea (H) and Wigan (A). Same applies for them really, can only see them getting one point from their last two fixtures.
Everyone below these three teams mentioned don’t have a chance of catching us due to the fact that these teams have 39 points or below so some of them will need to get 4 points from their last two fixtures and for some they will need six points to overtake us.
The main thing we have to do is just concentrate on our own games. If we can get three points from our remaining two games then I believe that 10th is ours. Stoke, Fulham and Aston Villa would all have to win both of their last two games if we get just one win, which in my opinion, isn’t going to happen.
What a season it will be if we finish in the top ten. Our first season back in the Premier League after promotion and we finish in the top half of the table. Can’t ask for much more from the board, manager, coaches and players. Things are really looking bright for West Ham United
