West Ham United’s under-18s were triumphant during their quarter-final clash with Manchester United in the Premier League Cup on Tuesday.
The under-18s at West Ham are a seriously exciting and talented group of players, and they showed that in spades against Manchester United on Tuesday afternoon.
We won the game 5-4 on penalties in the end, after the scores were tied at 2-2 after full-time.
The under-18s have actually struggled this season in general, and are currently sitting in ninth spot in the table after 12 games.
However, the main reason for that is that so many of our younger players have been promoted to the under-21s!
The pick of the bunch in recent years has been Ollie Scarles, Reece Orford, George Earthy and Kaelan Casey.

They have all been included in the senior squad on numerous occasions, but now it’s time for the next crop of youngsters to shine.
It looks like we have a real standout player on our hands, and he only turned 18 three weeks ago.
West Ham beat Manchester United in Premier League under-18 cup
The Hammers youngsters are set for a big semi-final and a potential final appearance this season in the under-18s premier cup competition.
There are a lot of things to be excited about at West Ham right now.
The Hammers posted a video on their official X account below of Ezra Mayers in full flight during our victory over Man United’s under-18s today:
Mayers is just 18, and that recovery tackle is one of the best I’ve ever seen, including senior football!
What a talent we have on our hands here.
The teenager signed his first professional contract with West Ham 12 months ago, and he’s gone from strength to strength since then.
Mayers has been with West Ham for over nine years now, and is well-known for his leadership amongst the under-18s (WHUFC.com).
The young defender has played 31 games for the under-18s and 19 for the under-21s so far (Transfermarkt), and he’s obviously very highly thought of at the London Stadium.
That tackle that he put in today showed me that he’s one to keep a very close eye on over the next 12 months or so.
Ezra Mayers has only just turned 18, and the future for him at West Ham seems to be very bright indeed.
