This week we found out that Tony Carr will be stepping back from the day to day running of the academy. He will still, however remain involved with the club in an ambassador role. This means he will still be able to help with young players coming through but also assist the club with any other area they feel they need his help with.

He will be a miss of course because he did bring through so many of our great players including Cole, Defoe and Mark Noble so we know he is more than capable of helping young talent however a change was definitely needed at the academy. James Tomkins was the last player to make the first team from the academy and of course he is regular starter and a great defender but we need more young players.
I really do think we have a lot talent in the under 21 team in all positions, especially players like Elliot Lee, so the task the person replacing Carr, which happens to be Terry Westley, his biggest job will be working with players we have so they are ready for that step up. I should imagine quite a few are including Potts of course who we are expecting to have a strong season with the first team.

It will be another change for the club, hopefully one that pays off for the better.
