West Ham goalkeeper Nathan Trott has called academy team-mate Nathan Holland a ‘hidden gem’ on social media.

Holland played on Friday night for the club’s U23 team and wowed yet again. The 21-year-old winger now has nine goals in just 11 Premier League 2 matches.

After the match, Holland posted a picture of himself celebrating and his tweet was captioned: “I love this game”. This drew in a host of replies from West Ham fans saying he should be in the first-team.

Alongside those replies was a familiar face for Holland. His Hammers academy colleague, Trott, who is currently on loan at AFC Wimbledon, showed that he is also a massive fan.

Trott replied to Holland’s tweet with an emoji of a jewel. West Ham fans would prefer to see these two in the first-team compared to some of the underperforming, overpaid first-team players.

West Ham have not won since September and Manuel Pellegrini continues to snub Holland. The former Everton winger has proven himself at youth level and deserves his chance in the senior side.

Trott’s reply to Holland’s tweet suggests that Pellegrini should not be avoiding him. ‘Hidden gem’ indicates he has not been found yet and Holland’s absence certainly continues to baffle West Ham fans.
