Shane Duffy has responded on Twitter to his friend’s suggestion that he wants to join West Ham this summer.
In other news…Opinion: David Moyes could make huge transfer error despite potentially massive profit
The 33-capped Republic of Ireland international’s best friend Sean Roddy posted a message the other day suggesting that the centre-back’s preference is to join the Hammers:
We’ll see what happens but he’ll be equally worshipped at west ham and his dad was a hammer ⚒️ pic.twitter.com/fGoTKQABdQ

The tweet obviously got many West Ham fans talking. But Duffy has poured cold water on any potential excitement:
Wouldn’t listen to a word he says he ain’t got a clue 😂

So it seems as though there is a lot of work to do before we can bring Duffy to the London Stadium.
The Daily Record claimed last week that David Moyes is ready to spend £5 million to bring the 28-year-old to West Ham.
And that would surely represent decent value for the Hammers.

Duffy is an experienced and extremely capable centre-half. He is old school, but his ball dispersion is highly underrated.
Stats
The 28-year-old made 19 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls this season, scoring one goal in the process (Who Scored).
In those outings, he averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 3.7 clearances per game. Duffy also won 3.7 aerial duals on average per game in those appearances (Who Scored).

The Irishman averaged 33.7 passes per game during those appearances with a very impressive completion rate of 80.7% (Who Scored).
With funds tight in east London, David Moyes will be looking for some bargain signings this summer.
And Duffy certainly would be a real coup for anything like £5 million.
