David Moyes has today told reporters that Said Benrahma has not failed his medical ahead of a potential move to West Ham, as quoted by Football.London.
The Mirror reported a couple of hours ago that Benrahma’s proposed move to the Hammers is at risk of collapsing after he failed a medical.
But David Moyes has today told reporters that that is in fact not the case, as quoted by Football.London:
“That’s not correct [failing a medical]. We are still hopeful something can be done later today but I can’t guarantee that. Part of his medical is ongoing.”
Whatever is going on, something’s not right. It really is classic West Ham.
Sky Sports reported yesterday that the Hammers had all but agreed a £30 million deal to bring Benrahma to the London Stadium from Brentford.
But with the clock ticking down, the fans are starting to get nervous that this could be an elaborate ploy from David Sullivan yet again.
Having sold Grady Diangana to West Brom, Sullivan promised to reinvest the money back into the squad.
And a failed medical would be the perfect excuse for his failure to actually fulfil that promise.
Maybe we’re being cynical. But let’s wait and see. There are still three hours remaining until the window slams shut.
And judging by David Moyes’s comments today, there is still every chance that we can get a deal for Benrahma over the line.
