More details are emerging over in Venezuela regarding Keiber Lamadrid’s permanent move to West Ham United from Deportivo la Guaira.
And it appears the Hammers feel the young winger may soon be worth quite a bit more than the £1 million fee they paid a few days ago. Twenty times more, in fact.
Keiber Lamadrid became a permanent member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s roster in the days following their relegation from the Premier League. West Ham United triggered the nominal purchase clause in the contract they agreed with Deportivo la Guaira during the January transfer window.

According to Francisco Blavia, host of the Connector House YouTube channel, Nuno was keen to keep Lamadrid in East London. The Caracas-born 22-year-old will reportedly also sign a five-year deal, complete with an eye-watering £20 million release clause.
West Ham United’s Keiber Lamadrid plans explained

“Keiber Lamadrid’s move to West Ham United is confirmed, 100 per cent confirmed,” Blavia says. “They had requested an extension until June 15th. They are finalising the purchase of this player because the request was made by Nuno Espirito Santo.
“The information is that it was at the request of the coach himself that they’re going to buy Keiber Lamadrid, who is going to have a £20 million release clause and a five-year contract.
“[For Lamadrid, this is a move of] tremendous beauty, isn’t it?”
Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave West Ham, while speculation continues to rage around Jarrod Bowen. Adama Traore’s contract is due to expire in July. So the versatile Lamadrid, who can play on either flank, could potentially have a big role to play in the second-tier.
Lamadrid staying was ‘a direct request’ from Nuno Espirito Santo
Nuno handed Lamadrid only one first-team appearance in the second half of 2025/26. That came in the 1-0 FA Cup victory over third-tier Burton Albion. Perhaps the head coach felt a relegation battle was simply the wrong environment for a young man new to English football.
A full pre-season should now give Lamadrid the chance to settle into life on UK soil.

“The Championship is perhaps the seventh-best league in the world,” Blavia argues. “Also, the fact that they are in this rebuilding phase, being in the second division, benefits Keiber Lamadrid.
“To reiterate; a five-year contract, a £20 million release clause, and it was also a direct request [from Nuno] after having seen him last season.”
Lamadrid scored a sublime goal on his West Ham U21 debut shortly after arriving in the winter. He was named the Venezuelan league’s Young Player of the Year in 2026 and crossed the Channel having made over 100 first-team appearances for Deportivo la Guaira.
According to agent Karim Assafo, Lamadrid was always intended to be part of West Ham’s senior squad.
