West Ham United are reportedly now keen to sign Lecce centre-back Federico Baschirotto this summer.
According to a report from The Sun, the 26-year-old defender is firmly on the radar of West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Hammers manager David Moyes is well known to be on the hunt for a new central defender this summer, after a move to sign Harry Maguire collapsed at the last knockings.

Craig Dawson was sold in January whilst Angelo Ogbonna will be 36 at the end of the season. In addition to that, Kurt Zouma has always struggled with injuries since joining West Ham.
And it seems as though Moyes is eyeing up a move to sign somewhat of an unheralded name to solve his central defensive deficiencies this summer…
West Ham could now sign 6ft 4in Italian centre-back Federico Baschirotto for just £8 million
The Sun claim that the Hammers want to sign the Italian this summer, and Lecce are demanding around £8 million for his services.
That sounds like pretty good value for the 26-year-old to me.

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Baschirotto is an absolute unit and seems to be ideally suited to the robust nature of Premier League football.
In 37 Serie A outings last season, he bagged three goals and averaged 1.1 tackles, one interception, five clearances and 2.5 successful aerial duels per match (Who Scored).
The Italian is quintessentially Italian in the way that he defends. He would be a great long-term replacement for Ogbonna at the London Stadium.
And if West Ham sign Federico Baschirotto this summer for £8 million, I think it will be a very good deal indeed for the club.
