According to reports in the Portuguese media, West Ham are interested in Moussa Marega again. West Ham and Leicester are scrapping for FC Porto striker Marega, as per Correio de Manha.

West Ham have held a longstanding interest in Marega but now face competition from Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester.

The Hammers were keen to sign the FC Porto striker last summer as part of a four-way raid on the Portuguese league (Sky Sports News) but a move never materialised.

However, West Ham could return for Marega this summer due to their striker situation. Manuel Pellegrini could be searching for a new-look attack next term.

Andy Carroll is out of contract, Marko Arnautovic is unsettled (Daily Mail), Lucas Perez has been frozen out and Javier Hernandez has been linked with Valencia (Sky Sports News).

Marega could be West Ham’s answer to their striker problems if they can beat Leicester and finally land their man.

Impressive striker Marega has been wanted by English clubs for a while after catching the eye in Portugal.

After scoring 15 goals in 34 games for Maritimo, the 27-year-old moved to Porto in the 2015/16 season. His first year was modest with just one goal in 13 appearances.

But after hitting 14 in 34 on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes, Marega has returned to Porto and netted 40 goals in just 72 games.

The Mali international is renowned for his pace, power and goal scoring ability and he could be West Ham’s answer up front.
