West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in Torino midfielder Soualiho Meite, according to reports in Italy.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport – via Sport Witness – reports that West Ham and Tottenham are long-term admirers of Meite.
Torino are reluctant to sell but this report adds that a bid between €25m and €30m (anywhere between £21m and £26m) could test the Italian side’s resolve.
Who is Soualiho Meite?
Meite is a powerful central midfielder who stands at 6ft 2in tall and is known for his strength and aerial ability.
The former France under-20 international started his career at Auxerre and spent time with Lille, Zulte Waregem, Monaco and Bordeaux before his summer 2018 switch to Torino.
In his debut season in Serie A, Meite has impressed, playing 25 league games with two goals and two assists to his name.
Where would Soualiho Meite fit in?
Tottenham see Meite as the ideal replacement for Mousa Dembele, who departed for China in the January transfer window.
And West Ham also have vacancies in central midfield with Pedro Obiang potentially leaving this summer. He nearly joined Fiorentina in January, as per Sky Sports News.
Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere have been injured for most of this season, leaving Mark Noble and Declan Rice as the only other central midfield options.
If he adjusts to life in England quickly, Meite could add power, tenacity and a fresh approach for the Hammers in the middle of the park.
