According to reports in the Spanish media, West Ham want Pablo Fornals. The Hammers will reignite their January interest in Fornals, who is available for his €25m (£22m) release clause, according to AS.

Villarreal midfielder Fornals impressed last season, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 50 games. He operates as an attacking midfielder and could be a replacement for Manuel Lanzini – if the Argentinian midfielder leaves.

West Ham want a new central midfielder this season and numerous players have been linked. Fornals is the latest name to pop up as a West Ham target.

As per this report, West Ham, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur all wanted the 23-year-old in January. But Spurs have since cooled their interest and Fulham have been relegated.

This leaves West Ham in the race. And Manuel Pellegrini is a big fan of the twice-capped Spain star. Pellegrini wants Fornals to solve his midfield problem in East London.
