A Sky Sports reporter has lifted the lid on the real price Chelsea have set West Ham for Armando Broja with an official bid imminent.
The world and its wife knows West Ham desperately need to sign a new striker this summer.
And having completed the signing of centre-back Nayef Aguerd on Monday, there was further excitement in West Ham circles this week when transfer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claimed West Ham were now fully focused on signing Chelsea striker Broja.
A Chelsea expert speaking to Hammers News recently claimed the Todd Boehly takeover could be in West Ham’s interests over striker Broja.
West Ham were first linked with a move for Chelsea-owned Broja earlier this season after seriously catching the eye on loan at Southampton (Football Insider).
Sky Sports has reported that Broja is on David Moyes’s list of striker targets for the summer window with a forward being a top priority for West Ham.
On Tuesday Hammers News highlighted the wild discrepancies over Broja’s reported valuation with a host of sources claiming Chelsea have set a near £60m price tag on the Albanian’s head – double the £30m Sky Sports claim West Ham are set to bid.
But now Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth lifted the lid on the real price Chelsea have set West Ham for Broja and claimed an official bid is imminent.
“They (West Ham) expect to make their interest in the Chelsea striker Armando Broja official soon – is the word that I’ve been told,” Sheth said on Sky Sports.
“There is a long-standing interest in Broja. West Ham actually tried to sign him in the January transfer window, he of course enjoyed a successful loan spell from Chelsea to Southampton last season.
“His valuation – we’re told – is upwards of around £25 million.”
It will be a huge relief to West Ham fans and Moyes that Chelsea’s Broja valuation is more in line with the £30m the Hammers are said to be prepared to offer.
If the Blues had indeed valued Broja at nearer £60m it would have all but ruled West Ham out of the running.
The prospect of signing a young, talented, powerful striker like Broja is seriously exciting for West Ham.
Chelsea will undoubtedly be looking to make a statement striker signing – or two – following Romelu Lukaku’s departure.
The pressure is on Thomas Tuchel to close the gap on the likes of Man City and Liverpool.
And it is highly unlikely they would thrust Broja in at the deep end with those kind of expectations.
West Ham would be the perfect move for the young Slough-born forward.
He would certainly be welcomed at the London Stadium with open arms by fans and players alike.
West Ham’s players are said to have been really impressed by Broja during the three games against Southampton last season.
That’s according to a report from The Evening Standard which claims Moyes actually passed up the chance of signing Broja before he left Chelsea to join Southampton on loan.
