West Ham United have a very good backup option lined up, should we miss out on Edson Alvarez this summer.

According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham have identified as very good backup target, should Edson Alvarez not end up moving to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

West Ham are apparently close to signing Ajax ace Alvarez. However, things are never quite that straightforward with this club are they.

And it seems as though the excuses are already getting lined up just in case it doesn’t happen…

Claret and Hugh reckon that the club are still confident of getting the Alvarez deal done.

However there was one line from their report that worries be greatly.

Now, in spite of the fact that West Ham are allegedly very confident of getting a deal for Alvarez done, the fact that top sources inside the club are even talking about backup options is hugely concerning.

The Hammers should have got a deal done for the Mexican quite some time ago.

The 25-year-old is exactly the kind of player we need with Declan Rice now gone, and the fact that we’ve left it this late to sign him really is hugely frustrating.

He’s incredibly strong, doesn’t mind mixing it up with the opposition physically and has very impressive energy and stamina levels.

A recent report claimed Chelsea could hijack our move to sign the Ajax ace now.

And if West Ham do miss out on Alvarez, the owners will only have themselves to blame. Not having the midfielder at the club for our Premier League opener really will be a big blow for us in my opinion.
