West Ham are one of the clubs interested in Wesley Moraes. According to The Chronicle, West Ham, Newcastle United and Lazio are competing for the Club Brugge striker.
The Hammers are likely to be in the hunt for a new striker this summer. With doubt surrounding the futures of Manuel Pellegrini’s current strikers, this could be a priority.
Several strikers have been linked with a move to West Ham in recent weeks. And Club Brugge’s Wesley is the latest name to pop up.
Who is Wesley Moraes?
Wesley plays as a centre-forward for Club Brugge in the Jupiler League. This season, he has scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 48 games.
The 6ft 3in striker provides a physical presence in attack, using his height to cause problems. He is also comfortable playing out wide.
After coming through the ranks at Itabuna, the Brazilian forward moved to Europe. He joined AS Trencin in Slovenia, chalking up a tally of eight goals and five assists in 22 games there.
In 2016, Wesley moved to the Belgian top-flight. He has scored a total of 38 goals in 130 games with the majority coming this season.
The 22-year-old is highly-rated in Belgium and Club Brugge will struggle to keep him. Wesley would be a wildcard signing for the Hammers but he could join a growing list of South Americans in East London.
