Javier Hernandez could be the latest striker heading out of the West Ham exit door. Three strikers have already departed this summer and Hernandez could be the next.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina want to sign Chicharito this summer. He is one of a few strikers on Fiorentina’s radar, including Dario Benedetto.
West Ham are yet to make their final decision on Hernandez. But Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic have all left this summer. Arnautovic moved to Shanghai SIPG and now the Hammers are light in the striker department.
But yet another West Ham striker is linked with a move away from East London. Hernandez, who is also wanted by Valencia (The Sun) could be set for a move to Italy with Fiorentina.
Javier Hernandez: Sell or keep?
On paper, this is the ideal time to sell Chicharito. The 31-year-old does not have a high sell-on value, he earns £140k-per-week and he only has one year left on his contract.
Moreover, the diminutive Mexican does not fit Manuel Pellegrini’s style of play as a lone striker. He is better as an impact substitute but he is too expensive to remain at the club in that capacity.
However, the other departures might force West Ham to reconsider. This could be a blow for Fiorentina, forcing them to consider Benedetto instead.
