Crystal Palace are now interested in reported West Ham target Gabriel Barbosa.
According to Passione Inter, Crystal Palace are mulling over a move for Gabriel Barbosa, who is also known as ‘Gabigol’. The Brazilian striker is currently on loan at Flamengo from Inter Milan and his future at the San Siro is in doubt.
Inter want €30 (roughly £26m) for Gabigol. The Serie A side are ready to part ways with their striker and Premier League clubs are keen. West Ham have been linked with Gabigol as recently as earlier this month (FC Inter News).
Who is Gabriel Barbosa?
Barbosa is a prolific striker in the Brazilian leagues and has been tipped to follow in Neymar’s footsteps. But so far, the five-cap Brazil international has failed to replicate Neymar’s form in Europe.
The 23-year-old got his move to Europe in 2016, swapping Santos for Inter. But after 10 matches and just one goal, he was sent out on loan three times. He spent time with Benfica before rejoining Santos and now he is at Flamengo on loan.
The Rio de Janeiro-based outfit would love to keep Barbosa – who has scored 23 times in 28 games. However, Inter’s £26m valuation would surely put any talk of a permanent transfer to bed.
This could open a door for West Ham – provided that the board cough up the funds. Barbosa has been prolific in Brazil and has the potential to be a success in England. He could complete the striker department – alongside Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti.
