West Ham have made a ‘tentative enquiry’ over Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez, according to reliable West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee.
Speaking on his The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 15th May), Ex told listeners that a source (of unknown reliability) has informed him that West Ham have taken an unlikely interest in Sanchez.
But he was keen to stress that this deal was very improbable. Sanchez’s mammoth pay packet of £500k-per-week makes this deal nearly impossible for the Hammers.
EXWHUEmployee on Alexis Sanchez enquiry
EXWHUEmployee told listeners: “Someone told me, and I don’t know how reliable this is, and I’m pretty sure it’s not that reliable, but we put a tentative enquiry about Alexis Sanchez of Manchester United. Obviously, he’s a Chilean but he’s on £500k-per-week. Apparently Manchester United are going to allow him to go for half of that and they’ll pay the rest. But still, £250k-per-week is too much.”
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini could reunite with fellow Chilean Sanchez in East London. However, the chances of this deal getting over the line are surely very slim.
The 30-year-old has been a flop since his January 2018 move to Man United. With five goals in 18 months, his time has been considered a failure following a spell which saw him net 80 goals in just over 160 games for Arsenal.
West Ham are likely to pursue other targets. EXWHUEmployee added that Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic are the Hammers’ top two striker targets.
