Javier Hernandez has been told that he will be a key player at West Ham next season, according to reliable insider EXWHUEmployee. Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly told Hernandez that he rates him highly when he gets the right service.
And after missing out on Maxi Gomez, it is clear that Pellegrini wants to keep Hernandez at the club. Pellegrini does not want to completely change his striker options.
“Hernandez has been told he will have a key role at the club this year as Pellegrini doesn’t want a complete overhaul of forwards and also thinks that Hernandez is a top forward with the right service. (Be interesting if a top offer comes in for him what we do though)”
Javier Hernandez gets a new number
Hernandez’s improved role at West Ham has been backed up by the fact that he has taken a new number. West Ham’s official website confirmed that Chicharito has changed from number 17 to number 9 for the Hammers.
The Mexican striker has scored 16 goals in the past two seasons with West Ham – a tally he will be keen to improve on next term. But with one year left on his contract, Hernandez could be playing for a longer deal.
At the age of 31, his future is unclear beyond the summer of 2020. This could be a decisive season for Hernandez, who will be eager to pay back Pellegrini’s faith.
