Former Fulham striker Gordon Davies has told Love Sport Radio that West Ham target Aleksandar Mitrovic could stay in West London.
Fulham’s relegation was confirmed last night after they lost to Watford but Davies believes Mitrovic and Tom Cairney might remain at Craven Cottage.
Davies is considered a club legend at Fulham and he is the club’s record goalscorer with 159 league strikes in total.
The ex-Wales striker now believes that Fulham’s current centre-forward Mitrovic might be tempted to lead the line for the Cottagers in the Championship.
Gordon Davies on Aleksandar Mitrovic
After revealing that Cairney could stay, Davies added that Mitrovic’s future might lie at Fulham.
He told Love Sport’s Up Front with James Gray: “The other rumour I heard was that Mitrovic is staying. That would be great from a supporter’s point of view.”
Aleksandar Mitrovic to West Ham?
There have been many rumours linking Mitrovic with a move to West Ham, including this report by The London Evening Standard.
The Serbia international has led the line for Fulham this season, scoring 10 goals in 32 Premier League matches.
Given his physicality and eye for goal, Mitrovic could be a shrewd signing for the Hammers at the right price.
But his goalscoring form in the second half of the season is a major concern. The 24-year-old last found the net for Fulham in January.
