Declan Rice has hinted there may be more West Ham signings to come after Lucas Paqueta with three days left of the window.

It has been a good weekend for West Ham United.

The Hammers got their first win – and goal – of the new Premier League season with a 1-0 victory at Aston Villa.

And David Moyes is on the verge of one of the most exciting West Ham transfers for years with the arrival of Brazil star Paqueta imminent for a club record fee in excess of £50m.

West Ham fans have been well fed on a diet of transfer news and gossip for the last three months.

But it all comes to an end when the window slams shut at 11pm on Thursday night.

Paqueta will be West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer taking spending to around the £175m mark (£160m net).

It follows eight departures from the club this summer.

Before retiring back in May, Mark Noble said West Ham had been three players short in their squad last season. And that was before he and a raft of others left.

There is no doubting West Ham have massively upgraded in terms of quality.

But there have been suggestions that the Hammers will do further business before the window closes.

Links to longstanding Moyes target Hans Vanaken won’t go away. And the Irons have also been linked with late loan moves for the likes of Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher at Chelsea.

There have also been links to a couple of centre-backs with talk that Craig Dawson could be allowed to join Aston Villa to be further north for family reasons.

Moyes has previously vowed to try and persuade Declan Rice to stay at West Ham long term by showing ambition in the transfer market and building an exciting team around him. Well the Hammers are certainly doing that.

Last summer the Scot said Rice was excited by his future transfer plans for West Ham.

So the Hammers captain will be well aware what Moyes has planned for the squad before the window closes.

And now Rice has hinted there may be more West Ham signings to come after Paqueta with three days left of the window.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the win over Villa, an excited Rice said he was hopeful there would be “one or two more” new signings on the way.

“I feel like that’s what we needed,” Rice said about the host of new arrivals on whufc.com.

“You know we’ve got a lot of games coming up this year and we want to keep pushing as a squad and as a club.

“The players we’ve brought in have been unbelievable and hopefully there’s one or two more to come so we just need to keep integrating and I feel like there’s exciting times ahead for everyone.”

Exciting times indeed.
