Club sends wonderful goodbye to departing star Konstantinos Mavropanos and it will excite West Ham fans.
It’s now official, after wasting much of the window chasing Harry Maguire, West Ham have signed Konstantinos Mavropanos instead.
On Monday morning Hammers News exclusively brought you the first words of our third summer signing after a chat with the new man after the Chelsea win.
Reports elsewhere of a failed medical proved to be nothing more than the usual West Ham mischief making.
And the big Greek defender was duly officially unveiled as West Ham’s latest arrival from German outfit Stuttgart last night.

Quite often in these situations you can gauge a player’s quality and character from the send-off they get from their former club.
Both Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse received gushing farewells and goodbye videos from Ajax and Southampton. West Ham saw why as the duo helped them to that 3-1 win over Chelsea on their debuts.
Now his former club has sent a wonderful goodbye to departing star Mavropanos and it will excite West Ham fans.
Taking to social media, Stuttgart sent an emotional message and video montage to the near 6ft 5in central defender nicknamed ‘Dinos’. And in it they praised all the qualities he brings to a team – which West Ham will now be hoping to see in the claret and blue.
“THANK YOU dinos!” Stuttgart said alongside love hearts.
“Thank you for 89 competitive games in a Brustring shirt, for your often uncompromising duel, your intensive style of play and your tireless commitment to VfB.”

A giant with all the attributes needed to be a success in the Prem as an older, wise pro
On meeting Mavropanos, the first thing that struck me about him was just how imposing he is.
I’m 6ft 1in and the 25-year-old stands at just under 6ft 5in tall – but I felt in the presence of a giant.
He is an absolute unit and it is easy to see why he has been labelled a monster.
He looks as solid as a brick wall and had hands like shovels. So physically he seems to have everything a defender needs to be successful in the Premier League now he has his second chance as an older wiser pro following his spell with the Gunners as a younger player.
Statistically Mavropanos was one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga last season, recording the most interceptions in the entire league.
He is very comfortable on the ball, five years younger than former Hammers target Harry Maguire and is a monster aerially – in both boxes.
Fitness permitting, he could find himself on the bench for West Ham against Brighton with Nayef Aguerd suspended and Angelo Ogbonna expected to deputise.
