West Ham target Aleksandar Mitrovic is reportedly being offered colossal wages to move to China instead.
According to The Daily Express, Chinese Super League clubs are ready to pay Mitrovic a staggering wage of £300k-per-week to lure him to China.
Guangzhou Evergrande – who were linked with a £45m swoop for Marko Arnautovic in January (Daily Mail) – are leading this pursuit.
Mitrovic could leave for around £50m and West Ham cannot compete with these financial figures.
Aleksandar Mitrovic: suitors in England
A host of English clubs will rival the Chinese Super League teams for Mitrovic, although they will hope that the player ignores the lure of money from the Far East.
This report by The Express mentions West Ham as a potential suitor, while Everton, Leicester City, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.
The 24-year-old has scored 10 goals for already-relegated Fulham this season, although his last strike came in January.
But the Serbia international is renowned for his physicality and this could appeal to a range of top-flight sides.
West Ham are probably going to target at least one new striker signing in the summer transfer window, especially if other players leave.
Mitrovic will be on Manuel Pellegrini’s radar but £300k-per-week offers from China will price West Ham out of the race.
