West Ham have recently been linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson but have suffered a setback in their pursuit.
The Hammers want Wilson as Marko Arnautovic’s replacement if he completes his expected move to China, according to The Daily Mail.
But Bournemouth are reluctant to lose their star striker and have slapped an astronomical price tag on his head.
The Daily Star reports that Bournemouth will demand £75m for Wilson with Chelsea also keen on his services.
Who is Callum Wilson?
Wilson is a highly-rated striker who has been impressing with Bournemouth in the Premier League for the past few seasons.
The former Coventry City forward scored 20 goals in his first season with the Cherries to earn them promotion.
And since then, he has hit tallies of five in 13, six in 20 and eight in 28 for Bournemouth in three injury-hit campaigns in the top flight.
This season, Wilson has stayed fit for most of the campaign, netting 10 goals in 18 games, including nine Premier League strikes.
The once-capped England international also netted on his international debut recently; in a friendly against the United States at Wembley.
Wilson is renowned for his pace, strength and clever running lines, as well as his finishing ability.
Marko Arnautovic replacement
West Ham want the 26-year-old to replace Arnautovic, who has been heavily linked with a move to China.
Arnautovic has scored eight goals for the Hammers this season after his total of 11 goals helped keep West Ham up last year.
But with the Austrian striker’s head turned, West Ham are planning for the future. However, Wilson looks too expensive for the Hammers unless they can drive down his price.
