Bizarre twist for West Ham and Everton in potential deal for striker Moise Kean

There has been a bizarre twist for West Ham United and Everton in a potential deal for Italian striker Moise Kean.

West Ham reportedly want to sign Kean and the striker is said to be open to the idea of leaving Everton permanently.

Corriere dello Sport (print edition Sunday June 5th, page 14) claimed at the weekend that the Hammers could swoop for the 22-year-old striker who spent last season on loan at former club Juventus.

Moyes keen on Moise Kean?

It is one of football’s worst kept secrets that David Moyes wants to sign a striker this summer after trying for three windows and 18 months without success.

Tuttosport claimed last month that West Ham want to bring Italy and Everton striker Kean to the London Stadium.

Kean is midway through a two-year loan deal with Juve and the Turin giants have a clause to buy him at the end of next season for €28 million (£24 million).

But there has been a bizarre twist for West Ham and Everton in any potential deal for striker Kean.

Because it seems Juve intend to take up their option early only to use Kean in a swap deal with Atletico Madrid for striker Alvaro Morata.

That’s according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano who has provided an update that will be of interest to West Ham and Everton fans.

“Juventus and Atletico Madrid are in talks for Álvaro Morata,” Romano said on Twitter.

“Allegri wants to keep Morata at the club, Juve won’t trigger buy option but are now trying to find a new, different agreement with Atléti.

“Moise Kean has also been discussed between the two clubs.”

West Ham and Everton both face big rebuilds this summer.

The Hammers have a host of players departing while former Hammer Frank Lampard must try – against the backdrop of potential FFP restrictions – reshape an Everton side who narrowly avoided relegation.

According to a West Ham insider speaking to Claret and Hugh recently, Moyes does not want to spend big on a striker as he still sees Michail Antonio as his first choice forward.

Instead he wants a value-for-money young striker.

In that respect Everton-owned Kean fits the bill for West Ham. But Juve could throw a big spanner in the works with their alleged plan.
