According to The Daily Star, Antonio Candreva is on West Ham’s list of targets.
Candreva currently plays for Inter Milan but he has fallen down the pecking order at the San Siro, prompting speculation about his future.
West Ham could be readying a January swoop for the 31-year-old, who has played just seven Serie A games this season.
With Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko out with long-term injuries, Candreva has been identified as a creative midfielder to fill their void.
And West Ham could hold a trump card in this pursuit; Candreva might be tempted to rekindle his partnership with Felipe Anderson.
Felipe Anderson and Antonio Candreva
Anderson and Candreva both played for Lazio before their respective moves away from Rome.
Both arriving on permanent deals in 2013 (Candreva had been on loan prior to that), Anderson and Candreva lit up Serie A with some spectacular displays.
The Italy international and the young Brazilian winger were devastating on both flanks.
In their three seasons together, Anderson (21 goals) and Candreva (35 goals) racked up a staggering tally of 56 goals between them.
With Candreva on one wing and Anderson on the other, West Ham could help these two relive their Lazio glory days.
But considering age is no longer on Candreva’s side, this could alternatively prove to be a short-sighted decision by the Hammers.
