Callum Wilson could seal an immediate return to the Premier League following West Ham United’s relegation.

Wilson has said goodbye to West Ham fans after the final game of the season, which saw the club relegated from the Premier League.

Though there have previously been suggestions that Wilson could stay here in east London, Hammers News understands that is not the case.

The 34-year-old certainly proved he could still operate at Premier League level at times, even if regularly starting games now looks beyond him. Seven goals in 11 starts is a strong return from a player who had largely been written off during his final season at Newcastle.

Now, Hull City are keen.

Hull interested in signing Callum Wilson

According to Hull Live, the newly-promoted Tigers are interested in a move for the former Newcastle United striker.

It is, however, added that the Humberside club are likely to face competition. They will likely go on an ambitious recruitment drive this summer to build on their success, having beaten Middlesbrough in the most controversial play-off final in history at Wembley last month.

What should West Ham do with Max Kilman this summer — keep, loan or sell? 🤔

Frankly, losing Wilson after just one season is a crying shame for West Ham. Having scored at Premier League level in a largely dysfunctional team in the season just gone, he’d surely have been a brilliant option in the Championship.

Wilson is chasing 100 Premier League goals and his current tally stands at 95. Therefore – based on what we saw last season at least – he could realistically break into that exclusive club if his next team play in the Premier League.

Still, West Ham’s loss could be Hull’s gain.

West Ham will no doubt hope that not many other key players follow Wilson through the exit door this summer. Keeping the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek would make that an easier pill to swallow.
