West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko was on the score sheet during the international break.
With 10 minutes remaining in Ukraine’s UEFA Nations League clash with Slovakia, Yarmolenko stepped up and scored a penalty for his country.
The 79-cap Ukraine international beat Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka from the spot, despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball.
It was the only goal in a 1-0 win for Ukraine and Yarmolenko’s 36th international strike.
The three points saw Ukraine rise to the top of their group (B1) in the UEFA Nations League after back-to-back wins.
Ukraine, under the guidance of former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, also managed to beat Czech Republic, with Yarmolenko playing 66 minutes.
The 28-year-old has had a slow start to life in England, with four Premier League substitute appearances to his name.
His only start came against AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup. Manuel Pellegrini might hand him his first league start after his international performance.

Yarmolenko scored for Ukraine earlier, albeit it was fortunate. Keep on going, lad. ⚒ pic.twitter.com/AoGUpfVw06
