West Ham’s ill fortune seems to have struck again with a spate of new injury concerns.
Things were just starting to turn around with the likes of Samir Nasri, Manuel Lanzini and Ryan Fredericks all returning from injury.
But between the Fulham clash last Friday and today, West Ham have picked up five more problems to add to their injury woes.
Five new injuries
Injury data analyst Ben Dinnery has confirmed via Twitter that five West Ham players have fresh concerns.
The Hammers’ full-backs seem to have all been wiped out as well, aside from Fredericks.
Aaron Cresswell broke his toe against Fulham and Arthur Masuaku missed out through injury too, meaning Manuel Pellegrini was forced to play Ben Johnson.
The 19-year-old right-back made his debut at left-back but was replaced in the second half against Manchester City with a calf complaint.
Pablo Zabaleta came on for the teenager but he now has a “niggling back complaint”.
West Ham were without striker Marko Arnautovic due to the Austrian “falling ill overnight”.
West Ham’s long injury list
These five players join a long injury list with several other first-team players currently sidelined.
Winston Reid has not played all season and his fellow centre-back Fabian Balbuena has been out for a while, although the Paraguayan defender is set to return to soon.
Meanwhile, Carlos Sanchez is not expected back this season after suffering a long-term injury early in the season.
Andriy Yarmolenko is in a similar position, while Jack Wilshere’s return date is unknown.
These latest five setbacks take West Ham’s injury list to double figures and not for the first time this season.
